What Is Saxenda?
Saxenda (liraglutide) is a once-daily, prescription-only injectable used to treat obesity (body mass index (BMI) of 30 or above) and overweight people (BMI of 27 or above with other weight-related comorbidities). Liraglutide is the medication that is in it. To help aid in weight loss, it should be used in conjunction with exercise and a good, balanced diet.
How Does Saxenda UK boots work?
Liraglutide, the active component of Saxenda, is a drug that functions by mimicking the actions of GLP-1, a hormone that your body naturally produces (glucagon-like peptide-1). The intestines release this hormone after a meal, which aids in controlling hunger. Because ligliglutide helps you feel fuller and curb your appetite, you may eat fewer calories and lose weight as a result. This treatment can assist you in losing weight and keeping it off when combined with a low-calorie diet and consistent exercise.
How Is Saxenda UK boots taken?
An injection is given once daily for Saxenda. It can be injected into your arm, upper leg, or stomach region. Avoid injecting into a muscle or vein. It can be taken without regard to meal times, at any time of day.
The following are the 6 easy steps to administer your Saxenda pen:
- Examine your prescription. Verify if your pen includes Saxenda® by looking at the name and colored label. Remove the cap from the pen. Examine the solution through the pen window to make sure it is colorless and clear. When the solution appears hazy, avoid using the pen.
- Saxenda UK boots. Take the paper tab off of a fresh needle. Place a straight, firmly wound needle onto your Saxenda® pen. Remove both needle caps; save the outer one for later use.
- Examine the flow using every new pen. Before administering the first injection with a new Saxenda® pen, check the flow or see whether the pen has been dropped. With the needle pointed upward, hold the pen. Once the “flow check” symbol and the pointer line up, turn on the dose selection. Once the pointer for 0 mg aligns with the dosage button, press it. At the tip of the needle, a drop of Saxenda® should appear.
- Choose your dosage. To choose the necessary dose (0.6 mg, 1.2 mg, 1.8 mg, 2.4 mg, or 3.0 mg), turn on the dose selector. Turn the dose picker backwards or forwards to choose the correct dose if you accidentally choose the incorrect one.
- Give yourself a shot. Put the Saxenda pen on your skin and press. Once the pointer for 0 mg aligns with the dosage button, press it. For a minimum of six seconds, keep the needle inserted beneath the skin while maintaining the dosage button depressed. This is to make sure the injection of the entire dose is completed.
- After injecting, remove the needle. Embrace the needle into the outermost tip. Gently press the outer needle cap all the way on once the needle is covered. Take the needle off its screw and dispose of it properly. Reattach the pen cap.
